Monday Night Ride

Start: 6.30pm
Location: Sandwich Quay
Distance: 20 miles
Approx Time: Two hours

MondayrideOur Monday night ride is a gentle paced ride aimed at being a social event and is not about setting Strava records or who finishes first. It is a 20 mile fixed route with a rest stop, if required, at the Rose Pub in Wickhambreaux, which is roughly the half way point. There are 1 or 2 moderate hills but nothing too challenging. We always make sure there is no-one left behind. The ride starts at 6.30pm on the Quay in Sandwich and will finish when everyone returns to the Quay. The ride takes roughly an hour and forty minutes to 2 hours and is paced at about 12 -14mph. We would suggest that you wear suitable clothing that aids visibility and have a reliable set of lights (just in case it's getting a bit dark by the time we return). A bike helmet is strongly advised. If you would like to join us then contact us on Facebook or give us a quick call on 01304 617161.

Wednesday Night Ride

Start: 6.30pm
Location: Sandwich Quay
Distance: 25-35 miles
Approx Time: Two hours

WednesdayrideThe Wednesday night ride is a varied route incorporating a medium pace of around 15-18mph. The route will be decided upon once all riders have congregated so be prepared to tackle some hills from time to time. This ride is over a longer distance so no fixed return time can be provided. For this reason we strongly recomend that clothing aids visibility and that you have a reliable set of lights in the event that the evening draws in before everyone returns to the Quay. Again we strongly advise the use of a cycle helmet. We also recomend that the rider bring sufficient refreshment with them as there will be no fixed stopping point. It is sometimes the case that riders do get separated from a faster group so being clear on the routes to be taken is advised before setting out. As this rides route changes from week to week there is no fixed stopping point although riders will wait while others catch up. This ride generally only takes place during the lighter evenings of spring/summer and it is always advisable to contact us on Facebook or give the shop a ring to confirm that the ride is taking place before setting out.

Friday Night Thrash

Start: 6.00pm
Location: Locks of Sandwich Cycles, King Street, Sandwich.
Distance: 20 miles
Approx Time: 1 Hour

FridaythrashThis ride is a fast paced fixed route with no stopping. The ride starts and finishes at the shop and takes in a relatively flat route. Visibility is essential as if you lose contact with the group you will be on your own. This means you will need lights, clothing that aids visibility and you will need a helmet. Cycle paths are used where available but this ride is on the roads primarily. The average speeds reached during this ride range from 18mph to over 20mph. The rider must adhere to the highway code when riding on the roads and the ride is undertaken at the riders own risk. This ride is not the faint hearted or the novice, it is also not a race, merley a chance to push yourself to your limits. If interested contact us on Facebook or call the shop on 01304 617161.
